Hakim Hammach
MBA Intern — Life Sciences
|
Hakim works with Aurora's life science investment team, evaluating new
biopharmaceutical and medical device investment opportunities and performing due
diligence. He is currently pursuing a MBA at Duke University's Fuqua School of
Business and was recently selected as a 2007 Duke Venture Fellow. Prior to this,
he spent over eight years at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals Inc (BIPI)
where, as a scientist, he held leadership roles of increasing responsibility,
gaining a significant experience in research and development management, from
launching new lead identification/drug discovery projects to advancing high
profile programs to pre-clinical development. He is named as an inventor in 11
US patents and in several international patent applications, covering novel
potential treatments for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. In addition, he
has authored and coauthored nine scientific articles, describing the design
process of novel drug candidates and successful synthetic strategies for
accessing complex natural products. While living in Connecticut, Hakim enjoyed
volunteering as a mentor to young aspiring scientists from Yale University,
through the Science Technology and Research Scholars' program, STARS.
Hakim earned a BS in chemistry from the University Moulay Ismail of Meknes,
Morocco and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Vermont. Subsequently,
he spent one year as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. He
enjoys playing soccer and mountain biking.
