Former Ernst & Young Manager Brings More Than a Decade of Financial and Operational Experience to The Team

Research Triangle Park, NC (July 1, 2002) – The Aurora Funds, one of the leading early stage venture capital firms in the Southeast, today announced Bonnie McCullough as the firm’s new Controller. McCullough brings more than a decade of financial and operational experience, along with strong leadership and business skills, to the Aurora team. McCullough will focus on Aurora’s operations and accounting functions, including responsibility for internal and external reporting, office operations management, portfolio company database management, and investor relations. She will also help Aurora’s portfolio companies build solid financial infrastructures to ensure continued growth and success.

Prior to joining The Aurora Funds, McCullough spent ten years at Ernst & Young, where she most recently held the role of Senior Consulting Tax Manager. In this role, she advised E&Y’s venture capital fund clients, including The Aurora Funds, on matters ranging from partnerships to portfolio exits. She participated in E&Y’s Partnership Network Consulting Group, which focused on structuring joint ventures, developing partnership disposition and exit strategies, reviewing partnership agreements, and modeling partnership transactions including depreciation allocation methods, the economics, and tax basis. She was also actively involved in business development, recruiting and training for E&Y.

“Bonnie has a strong track record of helping venture capital firms build solid financial and operational infrastructures, as well as implementing valuable processes and procedures that streamline otherwise complicated and cumbersome tasks,” said Scott Albert, Managing General Partner of The Aurora Funds.  “We are certain that her expertise will help drive Aurora’s success and the success of our portfolio companies forward.”

McCullough holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from North Carolina State University, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
