BIRMINGHAM, AL - (December 2, 2003) - Emageon, a leading provider of intelligent visual medical systems, has announced an agreement with Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI to manage medical image visualization and workflow integration throughout its healthcare facilities. The new system supports medical image sources from across the enterprise and will integrate with Meriter’s existing storage area network, billing systems, scheduling, ordering, specialized clinical applications and their recently implemented electronic medical record. This evolution of systems and integration creates an Intelligent Visual Medical Record (IVMR) for all physicians and medical professionals. The IVMR provides multi-specialty images, related information and advanced visualization toolsets, which dynamically adjust to the user through a single visual interface.

"Meriter was looking for a complete and total solution whose integration would allow us to leverage our existing information systems and medical technologies and prevent costly hardware upgrades. After a thorough review of the marketplace, we are confident that we made the right choice in selecting Emageon," said Peter Strombom, Vice President and CIO. "The implementation of Emageon’s proven, cost-effective solution will allow us to continue our drive toward procuring standards-based technology solutions to provide the highest quality of care to our patients and services to our physicians. We’re excited to be able to extend Emageon’s advanced visualization tools to all physicians in our enterprise, whenever and wherever they need it."

"We are very pleased to have been selected by Meriter Hospital for the deployment of our new Intelligent Visual Medical System - a suite of visualization, content management and workflow integration tools," said Milton Silva-Craig, Emageon’s Chief Operating Officer. "Meriter has a long and distinguished leadership record in both the clinical and medical informatics marketplace. Located next to our visualization development group in Madison, WI, Meriter will be a wonderful partner in providing critical guidance to Emageon as we continue to expand our intellectual property and establish new leadership benchmarks in this rapidly changing marketplace."
